Mentoring
At Parkwood Academy we provide every young person with the opportunity to regularly discuss their learning, their performance and their enjoyment of life in the Academy; in doing this we recognise the differing needs of our young people.
Every student has a tutor; they meet informally every day during tutor time as well as formally during one to one meetings that take place throughout the year on Academic Review Days. The conversation during meetings revolves around academic progress and the student’s current grades in comparison to their target grades. The tutor leads this discussion and then sets appropriate targets based on the grade information they have. The student should leave the Academic Review session with a set of actions, as the key aim is to help your child reflect on their own performance, take ownership of it and the targets that are set.
Progress Evenings and Parent Evenings are scheduled to share your child’s progress, strengths and areas for development.
Dates for Academic Review Days, Progress Evenings and Parent Evenings can be found in the Parent Calendar.
