Dear Parent/Carer
As you are aware from my letter on Friday the Academy has received notification from NAS/UWT, NUT, ATL, GMB, Unison and Unite Unions that its members propose to take industrial strike action on Wednesday 30th November 2011. This action relates to changes to the pension schemes of their members.
Although some of our staff are members of these unions, I have undertaken a risk assessment of the impact and I can confirm it is NOT proposed to close the Academy for students on the day of the action as adequate arrangements can be made to ensure students’ safety and continuity of education although the normal timetable will be suspended for the day and a new one put in place for this day only. As a consequence students in Y9, 10 and 11 should bring their PE kit.
Year 11 students who normally attend placements outside the Academy on a Wednesday should attend these as normal.
However, there will be no activities within the Academy after 3.05pm and so normal revision classes and clubs will be cancelled for Wednesday only.
I have confirmed with the bus companies that they are running to their normal timetable and so transport to and from the Academy should not be an issue.
Should you have any queries with regards to tomorrow please do not hesitate to contact the Academy.
Yours sincerely
Mr Mike Westerdale
Principal
