Dear Parent/Carer

The Academy has received notification from the NAS/UWT, NUT, ATL, GMB, Unison and Unite Unions that their members propose to take industrial strike action on Wednesday 30^th November 2011. 

 The action is not against the Academy itself but is part of national industrial action organised by these trade unions about changes to the pension schemes of their members.

 Although some of our staff are members of these unions, I have undertaken a risk assessment of the impact and it is NOT, at this stage, proposed to close the Academy for students on the day of action as adequate arrangements can be made to ensure students’ safety and continuity of education.

 A further assessment will be undertaken on Tuesday 29^th November 2011, which could result in the Academy being closed to students.  Should this happen we will need to contact parent/carers on this day.  Please ensure we have your current contact details. 

 We will use our text messaging service to inform you and also update our website, www.parkwoodacademy.org.uk, with the latest information.
