Letter from the Principal
Dear Parent/Carer,
I am writing at the end of what has been a very difficult two weeks for the Academy in common with all schools in Sheffield – and for just about everyone else!
Thank you for the very sensible way that you and your child have acted over the last two weeks. I know that many people have had difficult journeys to the academy and we have been impressed with the attendance and punctuality of students.
Inevitably a number of things have suffered. Some students have found it hard to concentrate and occasionally tempers have become frayed as the fun of snow has worn off. The very high standard of uniform has slipped slightly and understandably – especially in the case of footwear. It has been great to see how many students have been bringing a change of footwear to the academy and that has been much appreciated.
It does now look as if the very cold spell could be over and that the snow may be on its way out. Could I ask you to help us get back to normal as quickly as possible? Please will you make sure that your son or daughter wears plain black shoes to the academy. If boots are worn could you make sure that trousers are worn outside the boots– this mainly applies to girls. If there is any problem with this could you write a brief note to give to your child or write a note in their planner?
I hope that you feel that our communication about the academy opening in severe weather has been good enough - we have been using the website and Radio Sheffield. If you have any suggestions about ways to improve this then please let me know about them.
Please keep your fingers crossed regarding the weather and many thanks for your continued support.
Yours sincerely
Chris Mallaband
Academy Principal
