After weeks of intense practice, 10 of the finest Parkwood girls travelled to Tapton to play their first Netball match of the season with Tapton and Meadowhead. On the bus journey, expectations were high as team captain Empress Martin discussed tactics with the rest of the players. All of these dedicated girls have been working hard in training, and were excited at the prospect of finally getting their chance to show off their skills.

Parkwood didn't get off to the start that they wanted in their first game against Meadowhead, and were trailing 5-1 before they realised what had hit them! Tactical changes at half time steadied the team, and Princess Banda made some fabulous interceptions in the second half to prevent the shooters from doing any more damage, but unfortunately the gap was too big and the game finished with a 6-2 defeat for Parkwood.

After a quick pep talk and more changes to the team, Parkwood began their second game against Tapton. Some accurate shooting from Amber Webster and Empress Martin and careful passing from Kiera Mitchell, Lindie Dube and Ann Adiku Tsowu, resulted in Parkwood winning 3-2 at half time. Tapton, however, were not easy opponents and soon the score was 4-4. With time ticking down, it looked like a draw was on the cards until Princess forced a turnover in the defensive circle, and the ball was worked up court steadily to the shooters, who shot... And scored! The crowd of supporting parents and Miss Hewitt went berserk when Miss Sewell finally blew the whistle for full time and secured Parkwood a well deserved 5-4 win! What a game!

A massive well done to every superstar in the Parkwood team: Empress Martin, Amber Webster, Kiera Mitchell, Lindie Dube, Ann Adiku Tsowu, Theresa Wilson, Princess Banda, Sarafina Maneus, Louise Shelley and Lauren Shelley! All of you were fantastic and have improved so much since September - keep coming to practice in preparation for our next game on the 7th December.
