Drama
The Drama department is a vibrant and exciting place to be. Drama offers opportunities for every student in the academy to perform, to develop technical skills and to work creatively with their peers.
The department is a busy place, with lunchtime, breaktime and after school clubs, drop-in sessions and formal rehearsals. WE hold regular performances, encouraging students to recognise the talent that Parkwood has to offer in Drama, Dance and film-making.
Every student in KS3, and those that opt to take the subject at KS4, has access to our specialist lighting, costume and stage make-up equipment during their practically-based lessons. The students are taught a range of skills which enhance their subject-specific knowledge as well as increasing their confidence, giving them a chance to boost their self esteem and to develop very positive groupwork skills. Drama is popular at KS4, with courses running in both GCSE and BTEC qualifications.
WE are developing links with the Universities, with the theatres and with our neighbouring schools and colleges as well as developing a working partnership with Dartmouth Academy in Devon.
